Notes From a Monday Without a Job

A couple of months into job hunting, I wake up every Monday with mixed feelings.

I like to believe I’m making good use of my time. That I’m finally working on the things I never had time for when I was employed.

But the reality is harder than I expected.

Building a company is brutally difficult. I never thought it would be easy — I just didn’t expect it to be this hard.

Still, I can feel a few ideas slowly boiling in the background. Some projects might actually have potential.

Something else is happening at the same time.

AI.

I’ll say it out loud: I’m a bit terrified of it.

Not in a purely negative way. “Surprised” would be an understatement. The speed at which things are changing makes it hard to fully grasp what’s happening. Terrified might actually be closer to the feeling — a mix of excitement and fear about where all of this is going.

2026 feels like a year of transition.

I started the year without a job, low on energy but full of big ambitions. Like most years, I keep telling myself that I have what it takes to build a company.

I believe in my abilities.

But belief alone clearly isn’t enough.

Life is hard. I admire the people who manage to push through the uncertainty and actually make things happen.

I know what I want for my professional future. What I don’t know yet is how to get there.

When I push the confusion aside, though, I can see the opportunity.

The industry is changing faster than ever. Entire companies will likely be rebuilt around AI agents.

For the first time in a long time, I have the time and space to explore what building products in this new era actually looks like.

Friends and family believe I can build something meaningful.

The real question is whether I believe it enough myself.

Every week without a job could turn out to be a blessing — if one of the ideas I’m working on actually takes off.

For now, this post is just a snapshot of someone figuring things out in the middle of a strange moment in the industry.

Maybe that’s enough.
